Hi, I’m Julianna

I became a therapist because I know firsthand how powerful and transformative the process of healing can be. Growing up in a conservative environment, I often felt constrained by unspoken expectations about who I should be and how I should navigate the world. Those early experiences shaped my understanding of identity, belonging, and the ways societal and cultural norms can deeply impact how we feel about ourselves.

In my own life, I’ve faced turbulent relationships that revealed how deeply our pasts can shape the way we connect with others. Through my own journey of self-reflection and growth, I began to uncover the patterns and wounds that had been holding me back. Learning to break free from those cycles was challenging but profoundly liberating. It allowed me to reconnect with myself and others in ways I never thought possible.

My worldview began to shift when I started exploring how larger systems—like family dynamics, cultural norms, and societal expectations—play a role in shaping our identities and emotional well-being. This awakening was a turning point in my life, inspiring me to help others navigate similar challenges and uncover their own paths to healing.

It’s an honor to witness the courage and resilience of my clients as they navigate their own unique stories. I truly believe in the transformative power of therapy, and I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

When I am not doing therapy you can find me riding my bike, connecting with friends and family, or spending time with my dogs and cats, Ollie, Birdie, Dewey and Fran.

My Education and Background

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lewis and Clark College with a specialization in Sex Therapy. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Gender, Sexuality and Queer studies from Portland State University.

I am also an adjunct professor at Lewis and Clark College Graduate School.

My clinical experience has primarily involved working with individuals and couples. I have a wide range of experience working with depression, anxiety, relational conflict and disconnection, desire discrepancy, grief and loss, identity exploration, PTSD and trauma, divorce/separation, boundaries, personal growth, parenting, body image struggles, infidelity recovery, pleasure exploration and sexual anxiety.

My Approach

I believe connection and safe relationships are essential to our well-being, however at times I know our deepest woundings can create barriers to the type of connection we crave. I strive to create an empathetic and empowering environment, where together we can explore authenticity, healing and self-acceptance.

My therapeutic approach is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Experiential Somatic (body) practices. I view therapy as a space to explore and discover new ways of being and relating to ourselves and others. I believe in the power of understanding how our deeper emotional processes impact the way we interact with ourselves and those closest to us. My training as a systemic therapist has given me insight into how our problems often occur in context and I work to deeply understand your unique experience. I challenge myself to stay culturally aware and curious. I practice (continuously learning) anti-racism inside and outside the therapy room, and professionally believe in the importance of engaging in trauma informed practices. I am committed to holding space for all identities, orientations, and relational configurations.
